A chance to 'get down' in the villages

THE best of independent theatre, dance and music is coming to Worcestershire’s rural communities.

For the seventh year running, The Shindig tour is going on the road around the county stopping at Bretforton, Ashton-Under-Hill, Elmbridge, Eckington and Cleeve Prior.

Folk Music, theatre, jazz and classical music are on the bill this spring starting this month.

Highlights include Louise Parker & the Craig Milverton Trio (Bretforton & Ashton-Under-Hill), ‘The Wind in the Willows’ (Bishampton & Eckington), ‘Those Magnificent Men’ (Elmbridge), and The London Mozart Players String Trio (Rous Lench, Cleeve Prior & Eckington).

Wychavon District Council part-funds the tour, which is aimed at bringing the bright lights of live entertainment to the rural parishes.

Tracy Grubb, community arts development officer, said: “The programme arranged for this year’s Shindig tour will offer something for everyone.

“It’s all about bringing professional art live to people’s doorsteps and to those rural communities that don’t often get the chance to experience such performances.

“There’s so much going on - people really should give the Shindig organisers a call so that they don’t miss out.”
