A MIDLANDS choir will sing in Worcester on Saturday to raise money for an historic church.

Cradley Singers are giving a concert at St John-in-Bedwardine Church, St John’s, in aid of the church’s £200,000 church tower appeal.

Choir conductor David Kemp, who is also head of music at Queen Elizabeth Humanities College in Bromyard, said: “St John’s is a perfect venue with a good acoustic.

“We are always made very welcome and as we always raise money for charity, felt that this year we would like to support their own appeal to restore on of Worcester’s landmarks, the tower.”

The concert will include renditions of Schubert’s Mass in G and Mozart’s Vespers for The Confessor.

Tickets, priced £7, will be available on the door.

The St John’s tower appeal was launched in April last year with the aim of restoring the church’s ancient tower following an infestation of destructive death-watch beetle.
