STAFF at Worcester’s newest charity shop polished up their potentially priceless bric-a-brac for their official opening.
Antiques Roadshow presenter and local porcelain expert Henry Sandon was at the Blue Cross shop in Mealcheapen Street on Tuesday to declare it officially open. Members of the public attended the launch party and Mr Sandon looked for antiques among the bargains and bric-a-brac sitting on the shelfs.
Store manager Georgina Clarke, who enticed shoppers by busking on her violin, said: “We’ve had a really warm welcome in Worcester and want to encourage as many people as possible to visit the shop.
“All the money we raise from the sale of items in the shops helps to look after the poorly and homeless pets in our care, so we’re always really grateful for donations.”
Blue Cross UK is an animal welfare charity that runs animal hospitals and animal adoption services. Animal lovers interested in volunteering at the Worcester shop are asked to call in to 18 Mealcheapen Street or phone 01905 330117 for more information.
