A FOOTBALL fan has taken inspiration from his team and decided to run the London marathon for a local charity.
Dave Moss chose to run the 26 miles for the third and final time to raise money for Acorns Children’s Hospice in Bath Road after Aston Villa decided to support them, with the charity’s name emblazoned across their team shirts.
Mr Moss, who is married with three children and two step-children, had already been supporting the charity for many years, both volunteering and raising money.
The 46-year-old, of Pirton, near Worcester, said: “Acorns are always in need of cash, and it is nice to support a local charity.
“But they are also the charity my football team support, so I’ve been inspired by them.”
Mr Moss, who ran the marathon in 2008 and 2004 for different charities, works for the children’s services department of Worcestershire County Council.
He hopes to raise £500 for Acorns and complete the race in four hours.
Anyone wanting to donate can contact Mr Moss on 07792916392.
