Ada’s now a great-great gran after new arrival

A WORCESTERSHIRE woman has become a great-great-grandmother following the arrival of the fifth generation of females in her family.

Ada Wilkinson, aged 90, who lives in Fernhill Heath, near Worcester, was “very pleased” to welcome her great-great-grandaughter, Lola-Rae on Thursday, July 29.

Lola-Rae was born to Mrs Wilkinson’s 19-year-old great-grandaughter Becci, who lives with her partner in Birmingham. She named her “Rae” after Mrs Wilkinson’s maiden name, Ray.

Mrs Wilkinson’s daughter, Ann Collett, aged 69, (Becci’s grandmother) said the latest arrival was quite a surprise, but it’s made the family even closer.

Mrs Collett, of Bridgwater, Somerset, whose daughter Louise is Becci’s mother, said her mother was “very pleased” to become a great-great-grandmother, but she took a little longer to get used to the idea. “It’s an unusual situation. It was a bit of a shock at first, becoming a great-grandmother, but I’m used to the idea now,” she said. “Now the baby’s here, it’s lovely.”

Mrs Collett said Becci is now hoping to resume her studies to become a nurse.
