AN INFORMATION campaign had been organised to help the estimated 4,950 people in Worcester on prescribed drug warfarin take better care of themselves.
The information session will take place at the main entrance of Worcestershire Royal Hospital in Worcester on Tuesday between 1pm and 5.30pm.
Roche Diagnostics’ new health campaign “Get PST (patient self-testing) Aware” builds on government initiatives to promote the movement of healthcare towards self-care where appropriate.
The campaign encourages anticoagulation clinics across the UK to sign up to host a Get PST Aware session free to local patients using warfarin treatment.
Using a home-testing device and a pin-prick of blood, the aim is for patients to experience much greater freedom and take up less clinical time.
Eve Knight, chief executive of the charity AntiCoagulation Europe, said “Patient self-testing (PST) can offer many people much greater freedom and flexibility and may also reduce the incidence of complications such as clotting (thromboembolism) and bleeding (haemostasis).”
People wishing to attend should register by calling on 01444 256888 or burgesshill.coaguchek@roche.com
