Accused said he would shoot my baby, court told

A MOTHER told a rape trial jury yesterday that she and her baby had shooting threats made against them at a Worcester flat.

Karen Seswick was at the premises in Lowesmoor when a woman with mental problems was allegedly forced to perform sex acts on two men.

Miss Seswick claimed that because the woman refused demands made by Anthony Nurse, he pointed a fake gun at her and threatened to shoot her baby boy in a cot.

The other woman, who was crying because she believed the threat was real, then agreed to go upstairs with Nurse.

The prosecution alleges that Nurse and John Ayres forced the woman to commit sexual acts on each of them – which by law is considered rape, Worcester Crown Court was told.

Nurse, aged 30, formerly of Lowesmoor but now living in Enfield, Essex, and 20-year-old Ayres, of Hylton Road, Worcester, deny rape on July 16, 2008.

Nurse also denies possession of an imitation firearm at the time of committing the alleged rape.

The victim was brought to the flat by Ayres after she missed her train home to Kidderminster, the jury was told.

Miss Seswick told the court that people in the flat were drinking alcohol and smoking cannabis. She said Nurse called the woman “gorgeous” and pretended he loved her and wanted to marry her.

She said he poured water over her four times, then rubbed his groin and bottom against her.

“I said, ‘Stop being pathetic and act your age”, but he told me to shut up,” she told the court.

Miss Seswick, who gave evidence from behind a screen, said Nurse also stripped off but the woman told him she did not fancy him. He then allegedly produced the gun, which had been bought at a car boot sale.

The witness said Nurse told the woman, “I’m going to get what I want,” and pointed the gun at her.

She said: “He said he was going to shoot the baby in the cot. It made me upset. I was angry at him. He grabbed my wrist and threw me towards the cot.

“He pointed the gun at my head. He said, ‘I’m hard, I can do what I like’.”

Miss Seswick said Nurse turned to the woman and asked her, “Now will I get sex off you?”

She said they went upstairs together and were followed by three other occupants.

Anthony Potter, prosecuting, claimed the others congregated round a peephole to watch the attack.

He alleged that when Nurse had finished, Ayres got the woman to perform the same act.

Miss Seswick said when Nurse came back downstairs, he had a big smile on his face.

The trial continues.
