ANIMAL lovers braved the cold weather to raise funds for a new re-homing centre in Worcestershire.

A coffee morning and bazaar was organised by members of the RSPCA at the Guildhall in High Street, Worcester.

They raised more than £350 by making cakes, running a tombola and manning stalls selling bric-a-brac, books and buns.

Next year the charity celebrates its centenary and it hopes to raise £1 million for the new building which will include an animal rescue centre.

The RSPCA Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire branch is separate to the national organisation and is completely self- funded.

Members of staff are working extra hard to raise the £1 million pounds and the £376.98 made at the bazaar willgo twoards that targert.

Last year the charity re-homed and rescued more than 300 animals but its work is never done.

There really needs to be greater control over these charities. Allowing them to breed these giant cats is totally irresponsible. I once saw a tv program with animal expert Bill Oddie in it that showed how dangerous these creatures can be. One of these oversized felines wreaked total havoc in London and ended up knocking over the Post Office Tower. I certainly wouldn't like to see St. Andrew's Spire or the Cathedral suffering the same fate. Wake up RSPCA! Destroy this beast before it's too late!
