PUPILS from a Worcester school have learned about becoming dog handlers, firefighters, veterinary nurses or even funeral directors when they grow up.
The St Clement’s Primary School pupils, aged nine to 11, heard about the different jobs from people working in local organisations during a careers day. They were able to try on heatproof outfits used by firefighters, meet a search dog and try out opticians’ equipment during the event at the Henwick Road school.
Tracy Bagg, the school’s office assistant, said: “They were really, really attentive.
“We now have a year six pupil who wants to be funeral director. They all listened fantastically well.
“They really enjoyed the day and took on board the information given to them.
“The day was a first and I don’t think it will be the last.
“It was organised to give them some aspiration, to give them something to work for and hope for.”
