A fun day has raised more than £500 for an organisation that encourages youngsters to be active.
The Worcester Community Lions organised a mini-tournament and fund-raising day at Perdiswell Leisure centre. The group meets every Saturday morning to teach football skills to children aged three to seven.
The fun day was aimed at raising money for its work as well as to try to replenish balls, bibs and poles which were stolen recently.
At the event, the group’s football team Worcester Lions played against other teams Westbury Celtic and Worcester Raiders.
Children were able to have their pictures taken next to replica FA Cup, World Cup and Premier League trophy.
There were also sack and egg and spoon races along with a tombola and raffle.
Organiser Sue Bentley said: “We are a non-profit organisation so the funds we raise help to keep it going and keep the cost down for the kids. The fun day went really well. We raised £550 which is brilliant really. We are chuffed to bits with it so thanks to everybody who supported us. We had a lot of support from McDonalds who provided free water and fruit bags and sent staff to do face painting. We’ve also had a lot of donations from other companies.”
Anyone interested in finding out more about the group can call Mrs Bentley on 07789 408180.
