A SIXTH form student from The Chase School, Malvern, has been selected as Worcestershire’s Young Poet Laureate for 2012.
Rowan Standish-Hayes was assessed alongside 13 other young poets at the Number 8 Theatre in Pershore, where his poem A Street Called Worry was particularly well received.
Rowan, who is in the upper sixth, was praised by the judges for his excellent imagery and delivery.
They also felt that he would appeal to a wide range of young people.
He will be invited to read at a number of events throughout the year.
