A GROUP of pupils at Malvern College are marking the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with a very special message.
Alice Quinn, Rebecca Connell, Amy Cooke, Jessica Coulman, Holly Makin and Rebecca Raby-Smith are sending a card and a gift to mark the Queen’s 60 years on the throne.
The girls collected signatures from well-wishers outside Waitrose, Edith Walk, Malvern, to make sure the Queen really got the patriotic message.
The message inside the card, which is sponsored by Aldine Print of the Six Ways trading estate, Barnards Green, Malvern, will read: “Congratulations Your Majesty – thank you for 60 years of service.”
The card is the girls’ latest initiative to raise money for the Wings of Hope children’s charity, which provides free education to poor and orphaned children in developing countries. Holly said: “It’s only when you look back over the last 60 years that you realise how much we have progressed as a nation.
“Education is the key to all this progress and we are proud to be supporting Wings of Hope in their efforts to sponsor education in developing countries.”
In addition, the girls will be sending the Queen a limited edition bottle of Holywell Spring Water fresh from the Malvern Hills.
Holywell Water director Rhys Humm said: “This is a brilliant idea. I am delighted to make a unique, limited edition bottle of Holywell Spring Water for the Queen to mark this occasion.
“Malvern spring water has been a favourite of the royal family for centuries and is a lasting link between the monarchy and our community,” said Mr Humm.
