A community clean-up had some surprising results.

As well as 15 bags of rubbish, a litter pick by members of Upton in Bloom at Stocks Yatt Meadow turned up plenty of unusual items.

Upton in Bloom chairman Jackie Surtees said: “Apart from cans and bottles, we also found traffic cones, a broken shovel, a hoodie, trainers and a pair of gloves.”

The group returned a few days later to remove a large television, half a door and three tyres from a stream, as well as more traffic cones, a five-gallon container of tar and other rubbish that was embedded in brambles.

Malvern Hills District Council offered to come and remove the rubbish.

Upton in Bloom will be giving a presentation about its work at the next meeting of Upton Town Council, taking place in Memorial Hall at 7.30pm on Tuesday, February 28.

Thankfully there are kind people who tidy up our environment and try to make it look nice for everyone's sake - shame about the people who dispose of their rubbish - they obviously don't care about their environment.
