A FAMOUS face took time out from treading the boards to attend a church spring fair.
Television’s Anita Dobson, who rose to fame as Angie Watts in EastEnders and who is currently appearing as Joan Crawford in Bette and Joan in Malvern Theatres, was meeting people at Christ Church in Avenue Road Malvern on Saturday. Anita has more lately been impressing audiences with her turns on the ballroom floor in Strictly Come Dancing.
Angela Green, fair organiser, said: “There was a truly wonderful atmosphere with hundreds through the doors.
“The excitement grew and by 11am a large crowd had gathered to greet Anita Dobson. She stayed an hour, posing for photo opportunities, signing autographs and chatting to everyone. She commented on the welcome she received being one of the best she had ever had.
“It was lovely to see so many people enjoying themselves.”
Event-goers and the music of the Malvern Chase Brass Band helped raise £1,000.
