Smashes cause traffic chaos in Droitwich
UPDATE: THE A38 was re-opened at 1.03pm.
A DRIVER has been seriously injured in one of two crashes in Droitwich which are causing traffic chaos.
The first accident, involving a Citroen car and a HGV vehicle, happened around 6.45 this morning outside the Copcut Elm Pub.
The Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance was called and the male driver in his 40s of the Citroen was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham by land ambulance with a serious cut to his leg. The driver of the HGV was not seriously injured.
The A38 was closed in both directions from B4090 Worcester Road and Martin Hussingtree and police have said drivers should expect traffic disruption for the next three hours.
Another accident just a few hundred yards up the road near the Berry Hill Industrial Estate on the Droitwich Road is adding to the delays in the area. No one has been injured in the second accident between a green Rover and red Seat which happened at about 9.15am.

• Meanwhile in Evesham the High Street was closed for a short time this morning after a collision between a Honda Civic and a moped.
The car is thought to have hit the moped as it pulled out of Lester Grove at around 9am.
The male rider, who is in his late teens and from Warwickshire, was transferred to Alexandra Hospital in Redditch with neck injuries, not believed to be serious or live threatening.
