NEW ERA: Lord Strathalmond opens the new unit.
A NEW dementia unit was opened in Droitwich.
AgeCare’s Dorset House unveiled the new Magnolia Suite at an opening ceremony performed by Lord Strathalmond and witnessed by Mayor Anne Taft. The Magnolia Suite, named by residents at Dorset House, will specialise in dementia care.
People will be able to access the reminiscing pod, which recreates a 1950s sitting room complete with an old console TV loaded with old news broadcasts and television shows.
Lord Strathalmond, president of AgeCare, said: “Dementia is one of the 21st century’s biggest challenges and AgeCare hope to be able to improve the quality of life of its residents with its innovative approaches to helping elderly people with dementia.”
