NOT GOING WITH THE FLOW: Debris builds up underneath Worcester Bridge (28083102)
PEOPLE in Worcestershire are being warned to remain vigilant and prepared for flooding as more rain is forecast this week.
A spokesman for The Environment Agency said the river Severn had now peaked following last week’s heavy downpours but forecasters are still warning people to be vigilant as further heavy rain moves into the Midlands this morning.
The rain is expected to last throughout today with the heaviest rainfall likely to be in the West Midlands, Warwickshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire.
Those at risk of flooding can sign up for flood warnings on our website or by phoning the floodline on 0845 988 1188.
• THIS is the mess left behind after last week’s deluge.
The debris, including branches, bottles and lots of other items, has built up underneath Worcester Bridge following the heavy downpours over the weekend which caused the river Severn to swell.
A spokesman for the Canal and River Trust said the debris could not be cleaned because that section of the river is not currently navigable.
He said that the debris would be cleaned as soon as the water levels are normalised and safe.
