THE A38 at Droitwich is shut and a woman has been arrested after a serious crash near the Chateau Impney hotel.
A car and a cyclist tangled on the road near the landmark hotel at about 3.30pm.
The male cyclist suffered serious head and ankle injuries and went into cardiac arrest at the scene, but was "brought back" by life-saving medics working in the road, according to West Midlands Ambulance Service.
Police are diverting traffic away from the area, but the road is shut between the Robin Hood pub at nearby Rashwood, and the traffic lights at the turn for Droitwich.
Traffic has been badly affected, and drivers are urged to plan their route to avoid the area.
