Canine Jenson is right on the button

A CHOIR’S summer concert has provided a helping hand to a charity offering disabled people greater independence.

The Malvern Singers raised £500 for Canine Partners, who aim to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities by supplying them with specially trained dogs to help them carry out everyday activities, via their Salute to Britain concert on July 5.

The generous offer was made as part of an ongoing relationship with Stella Hewett and her canine partner Jenson.

She was injured in a serious road accident 14 years ago and has had Jenson since 2010, and says she is still very thankful for his assistance.

“Jenson opens the drawers in the kitchen for me, he helps me to shower, gets the towels for me, helps me dress, opens doors for me, operates lifts for me – the list is endless.

“He makes me smile every day and that alone is worth its weight in gold – he has literally transformed my life.”

Malvern Singers’ chairman David Toye presented Stella and Jenson with the cheque after the group had entertained with a few songs including Fields of Gold and Love Changes Everything.

Stella gave a talk about Jenson and how having him has changed her life.
