100 Years Ago:
Amy Lloyd, a girl aged nine, living at Green Lane, Astwood Road, Worcester, narrowly escaped being killed by a tram car on Saturday afternoon at Rainbow Hill.
About four o'clock she was standing on the pavement with her back towards the roadway. Suddenly she turned and ran across the road as a tram car was passing the spot.
The tram driver, A Ablett applied the brakes with extraordinary promptitude but the child was knocked down and received a fracture to the collar bone.
She was taken by her father to Dr Watson for treatment. But for the prompt action of the tram driver the child would have undoubtedly been killed.
