THE West Midlands Pensioners Convention will be bringing its Pensioners’ Rights Roadshow to town this weekend ahead of the launch of a new Stourbridge branch.
The event, taking place in the Ryemarket, off Stourbridge High Street, on Saturday April 26 from 11am to 2pm, will give pensioners chance to learn more about the Convention’s campaigning work.
The launch of the new Stourbridge branch will follow on Monday April 28 – in the meeting room at Baylie Court, off Green Street.
Convention spokesman Brian Allbutt said: “We know Stourbridge is a strong vibrant community with up to 40 clubs and charities but the town has no organisation that will give pensioners a voice, and bring pensioners together to campaign for their rights. That is why we are launching our new Stourbridge branch.
"Pensioners across our region are coming together and joining with us in the West Midlands Pensioners Convention because they realise the next year will be the most challenging.
“Our free bus pass is under threat, our winter fuel allowance could be means tested, the free TV license for the over 75s may go and there are now proposals to make pensioners pay for prescriptions.”
