A CORDON has been put up at a petrol station after a car hit piping.

The incident took place at about 1pm this afternoon at the Tesco store in St Peter's Drive.

A fire crew from Malvern attended the scene, with a fire service spokeswoman confiming there were no injuries.

The cordon was erected while emergency services waited for a fuel tank to arrive and remained in place.

Crane has now arrived to lift the car clear from pipework.

Police say there will be no access to garage for fuel for a while.

There are reports of traffic hold-ups around the filling station, and of difficulties getting in to the Tesco car park.

Sasha Louise McNeilly said: "Waited for 45 minutes in the queue to get out of Tesco car park!

"Credit to emergency services and Tesco staff, who managed the situation well and gave out chocolates whilst we waited!"

Peter Ryder said: "The car was driven by an elderly man. He collided with two cars before ending up crashing over the grass verge into the filler pipe."

LATEST (5.54pm): Police have left Tesco now but cars still won't be able get into the car park for at least next couple of hours. Store is open for pedestrians.
