THE HEAD waitress at The Anchor Inn in Diglis will be extra busy this Sunday, October 5, - but she will be pedalling an exercise bike and not serving meals.

Faye Jones, aged 16, and a finalist in this year's Miss Worcestershire competition, will be pedalling for six hours, from 10am to 4pm, to raise funds for the Beauty With a Purpose charity.

The charity is associated with the Miss World organisation and raises money and participates in humanitarian projects across the world.

Miss Jones, aged 16, was encouraged to enter Miss Worcestershire for the first time this year by her proud mum, Lesley Jones, who said: "She has been through a lot in her life-time, and has achieved fantastic grades in her studies. She is a good girl."

Mrs Jones hopes that success in Miss Worcestershire will provide a further boost in confidence for her daughter.

Miss Jones is a student at Worcester College, where she is studying for an NVQ in health and social care.

Her ambition is to work with children with autism.

Regulars at the inn are encouraged to support Miss Jones's marathon pedalling challenge, and to give donations to the charity.
