YOUNG members from Droitwich Spa Hockey Club spent the day recently, packing bags at a supermarket in Worcester to raise money for a new goal keeping kit.

The bag pack event took place at Asda in Worcester with club members packing bags between 11am and 1pm in the busy store.

The club raised an impressive £243.02 which will be put toward some new goal keeping and playing kits for its junior section.

Simon Blackmore junior development manager of the club, said: “Firstly I would like to thank the Asda store and staff who made all the youngsters from the hockey club feel welcome. By Asda supporting bag packing it allows clubs like Droitwich to purchase important playing kit for goal keepers which we may not have been able to afford as quickly.

"The youngsters helped to raise the profile of the club by talking to people as well as giving something back and learning skills outside of hockey, which is important".
