A FIRST World War workshop will give people the chance to find out about their relatives who fought in the conflict.

Worcestershire County Council's Archive and Archaeology Service is repeating a popular event in response to demand for information about the First World War.

The 'WW1 workshop' event takes place at the 'Explore the Past' floor, level 2 at The Hive on Monday, November 10 from 10am to 12.30pm.

Paul Hudson, Learning and Outreach Manager, said: "With the arrival of the WW1 centenary we have had an increase in people asking about how to find out about their relatives who fought in the war.

"More people are also wanting to know what we have in the archives to help them with a community project to look at their area during the war. This workshop will help highlight what we have which could help them."

During the workshop people will be able to go through some of the resources from 1914-18, as well as being shown how to research about soldiers.

Cllr Lucy Hodgson, cabinet member for localism and communities, said: "The event is part of a series of workshops aimed at helping people to get the most out of the resources held within the archives, available for people to use to help with their family or local history."

Places are limited and cost £8 and need to be booked in advance. The previous workshop in June was sold out. Call 01905 766352 or email explorethepast@worcestershire.gov.uk or visit the desk on level 2 at The Hive.
