TWO suspected drug dealers have been arrested after police stormed a house in Droitwich.

Twelve officers from Proactive CID smashed their way into the terraced house in Farmers Piece in the Westlands estate in Droitwich at around 3.30pm today.

The officers kitted out in personal protective equipment used an enforcer, a metal battering ram weighing about 20kg, to smash their way in. A sniffer dog also played a role in the warrant which led to the arrest of a man and woman as part of Operation Fuchsia, West Mercia Police's ongoing campaign to stamp out drugs.

Two suspects, a man and a woman, were arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply. The drugs seized are suspected to be heroin and cocaine (class A) and cannabis (class B) but tests have yet to be carried out to confirm this. One suspect is understood to be a young adult male and the other a middle aged female.

The suspects are now being held at Worcester Police Station for questioning.

Detective sergeant Dave Knight of Proactive CID said: "West Mercia Police and Warwickshire Police continue to target drug dealers and will respond to any intelligence that comes to them. We recognise that drugs have a detrimental impact on society in terms of production, sale and use."

He said, if the tests proved positive, the drugs would be worth "hundreds of pounds".

Community officers carried out 'reassurance patrols' after the raid.
