ONE of Worcester's best known dentists David Howcroft, who had a practice in Shrubbery Avenue, has died two years after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Aged 55, Mr Howcroft was born in Bolton, went to Birmingham University and then practised as a dentist in Lichfield for six years before moving to Worcester in 1987.

Tonina Westgate, who worked for him for more than 20 years at Shrubbery Dental, said: "David was a really good person and I am proud to have known him. He was a very much loved member of our community and we will all really miss him. He was a keen member and fund-raiser for Round Table and many of his colleagues, relatives and friends have been actively supporting cancer charities since his diagnosis in October 2012."

Mr Howcroft, who lived in Bromsgrove, is survived by his wife Lucy, daughter Robyn (who is studying medicine at Cardiff University) and son Jonathan.

His funeral will be on Friday, December 5 at 11.45am at Redditch Crematorium then at 1.15pm at St John the Baptist Church, Bromsgrove followed by "match tea" at Bromsgrove Rugby Club. All are welcome at the crematorium, but the main service will follow at the church of St John.
