WHEN your real Christmas tree has passed its best and 12th night has come and gone, then thoughts should turn to ways of disposing of it in an environmentally friendly way.
As in previous years, Cotswold District Council has arranged for real Christmas trees to be shredded and composted at either Batsford Garden Centre in Moreton-in-Marsh, who are accepting trees until January 11, and Dobbies Garden Centre in Cirencester who are accepting trees until January 6.
Commenting on the arrangements, Scott Williams, Strategic Client Officer for the Gloucestershire Joint Waste Team, said:
“Residents who bring their used Christmas trees to the two centres do a great job to help the environment. Once the trees are shredded, our waste company Ubico Ltd takes the wood chippings to be composted and then put to very good use as a soil conditioner.”
