A WOLLASTON pub has managed to raise almost £2,000 for the Leukaemia Unit Appeal Fund in just four weeks.

Members of The Foresters Arms, in Bridgnorth Road, collected money during various events which were held at the pub over the Christmas period.

Dave Evans, landlord of The Foresters Arms, said: “We chose to raise money for the Leukaemia Unit Appeal Fund as it is a charity very close to a lot of our customers’ hearts.

“I was so overwhelmed by the generosity of people.”

Housewives Choice played an acoustic gig on New Year’s Eve with ticket sales totalling £445 doubled by Barclays Bank.

Following on from the success of the new year gig, fundraisers from the Leukaemia Unit Appeal Fund as well as customers of the Foresters Arms donated prizes to be raffled off, including the top prize of a quality picnic hamper.

The raffle tickets were on sale for just over a week and raised £450 which Dan Thomas of The Property Shop, in Stourbridge, doubled to reach £900.

Another £100 was donated by Owen Lawson, who owns The Ranch in Netherton, to make a grand total of £1,890 which has been donated to The Georgina Unit at Russells Hall Hospital.
