THE driver of a car involved in a collision on the southbound M5 motorway between junctions 5 and 6 had to be freed by fire fighters using heavy rescue equipment.

A car and a 4x4 were involved in a collision at 8.33am on Sunday, May 3.

Two appliances from Worcester and Droitwich attended and the roof of the car was removed using cutting equipment.

The driver was released and taken to hospital. Two further passengers were released who also received injuries. The condition of the casualties is not known.

One lane was cordoned off as work to clear the vehicles was carried out and was reopened at 9.50am.
