A BARN dance near Pershore raised thousands of pounds for a Worcestershire hospice.

More than 200 guests attended the event at Old Pound Farm in Peopleton on Saturday, June 13, raising more than £5,500 for St Richard’s Hospice.

Fundraising manager at the hospice Rachel Jones said the event was “fantastic”.

“We are so grateful to Sue and Paul Dunne who spent weeks clearing out their barns so we could hold the event,” she said.

“We would also like to thank sponsors Jelf Clarke Robrough and E Hill & Sons for their contribution and coming up with the idea.

“A team from Tesco volunteered and helped the night go with a swing and we are grateful to Barclays for match giving of £1,000.

“All in all a great night.”

St Richard’s Hospice provides free palliative care and support to more than 2,600 patients living with life-threatening conditions and their families every year.

The charity runs a day hospice as well as a 24-hour, 17-bed in-patient unit in Wildwood Drive, Worcester.
