HOCKEY players from England and Germany turned their hands to a different sport in Worcester.

Members of Worcester Hockey Club under-16s and SSG Bensheim Hockey under-16s from near Frankfurt - who took part in an exchange programme from Thursday, July 30, to Monday, August 3 - had a go at footgolf.

Rather than penalty flicks or short corners, they were tasked with kicking a football into the holes of the specialist course at Ravenmeadow Golf Centre.

And the hybrid sport proved a real hit with the participants.

Jean Roberts, who helped to run the exchange which included a hockey festival as well as recreational activities, said: "It was something very different and new and everyone was having a good laugh.

"The young people from both countries are getting on really well.

"Footgolf was a great way to entertain our German guests."
