A MAN has been questioned by police over a brawl between football fans which broke out on a train in Droitwich.

The man came forward to British Transport Police, less than two hours after images were published on social media appealing for information.

The fight took place on a the 6.45pm train from Birmingham to Worcester on Saturday, September 16, just as it passed through Droitwich, with a group of as many as 30 male football fans involved, some using belts as weapons.

On Tuesday, October 6 British Transport Police released a picture of one of the men they wanted to speak to about the disorder, and less than two hours later, a 31-year-old man called in and spoke to officers, who arranged for him to be voluntarily interviewed in Worcester on Thursday evening.

PC Ben Smith from British Transport Police, said: “I’d like to thank everyone who shared the appeal and who has come forward so far with information.

“We will not tolerate football-related disorder on our trains and our enquiries into identifying the group of men involved in this fight will continue. The man we have interviewed will be spoken to again in the near future.

“I would urge anyone else who may have seen what happened, or knows who may have taken part in the brawl, to contact us.”
