A SEASONAL Stourbridge ale is predicted to fly off the shelves at Aldi supermarkets across the Midlands as Halloween nears.

Following the knockout success of Boris Citrov, brewed by Lye based Sadler's Ales, the supermarket chain is stocking the fifth-generation family firm's Worcester Sorcerer.

More than 53,665 bottles of the citrusy brew, named after a fictional boxing champion from the Russian/Ukraine border, flew off the shelves after it launched into stores in April.

And Aldi bosses hope to follow up the success with Worcester Sorcerer - a 4.3 per cent golden best bitter made from 100 per cent English hops sourced from local hop growing counties.

Priced £1.25 for 500ml, the popular pale ale has a rounded hoppy character and sweet, fruity finish.

Usually sold exclusively in high-end retailers, it will be available in Aldi stores across the Midlands throughout October while stocks last.

Ian King at Sadler’s Ales, which opened the new £500,000 Sadler’s Brewhouse and Bar on the Conyers Trading Estate in March, said: “We’re really delighted to be once again offering Aldi shoppers in the Midlands one of our award-winning ales.

"Worcester Sorcerer is one of our favourites; a delicious beer for drinking with friends and family or even for using in the kitchen to create a tasty sticky marinade."

Dan Hobson, UK buying director for beers and spirits at Aldi, said: “After the success of Boris Citrov, we’re thrilled to be offering our customers another fantastic ale from Sadler’s – one of the best local brewers in the country.

“Our partnership with Sadler’s is a great opportunity for us to champion local and seasonal products with our Midlands-based customers in mind.”
