AN ANTI-BULLYING initiative has been launched at a Hereford school to help pupils understand more about the issue.

St Martin’s Primary School is hosting the Several Times On Purpose (STOP!) campaign which has seen children creating anti-bullying posters as part of their schoolwork.

Vickie Walker, head teacher, said that she launched the scheme after feeling that pupils did not truly understand what bullying was, or its consequences.

She said: “We introduced ‘STOP!’ to our children because we wanted to be sure they understand what bullying is, so that if it does occur, we can be right on top of it.

“In the past we have had bullying problems reported to us, but on further investigation it became clear that the incidents were one offs and were basically children falling out.

We are fortunate that bullying has never been an issue at St Martin’s, but we will not take anything for granted.”
