A FEAST of English folk traditions will be served

during a lively weekend of Morris dancing at a historic pub near Evesham.

Foxs Border Morris are holding their annual weekend of dance at the Fleece Inn at Bretforton, near Evesham, between Friday, July 8 and Sunday, July 10.

The National Trust pub is the main venue for the weekend, supported by landlord Nigel Smith, a fellow Morris dancer.

This year Foxs welcome various Morris Sides who will be attending from throughout England and Wales to entertain.

The hosts, Foxs Morris, based in Cookley will be joined by other groups including Styx of Stroud, Milltown Cloggies from Stalybridge, Greater Manchester, Bunnies from Hell who hail all over the UK, Exmoor Morris from North Devon, The Widders from Chepstow, the Rhubarb Tarts from Wakefield, Bedcote Morris from Stourbridge and Plum Jerkum from Warwick.

They will be dancing a mixture of Border Morris, Cotswold Morris, North West Clog amd Molly Dancing.

Friday night will begin with Foxy Frolics at The Fleece where there will be, music, singing, dancing, an impromptu ceilidh and some informal Morris dancing.

Local North West side Belle d’Vain will be dancing during the evening.

On Saturday they will visit Worcester for day of dance at various venues throughout the city, from 10am to 4pm.

On Sunday in Bretforton at 11am there will be a folk service at St Leonard’s Church.

Everyone welcome, followed at midday with an afternoon of dancing at The Fleece.
