LUDLOW has gone to the dogs.

It was the third year in succession that the town’s Rotary Club has staged a gala ‘dog day’ to raise money for good causes.

People from the town and throughout south Shropshire went to Stokesay Court for a day of fun and frolics dedicated to all things canine.

There were competitions for all kinds of dogs – some of them serious and others just for the fun of it.

People were also able to shop at many different stalls selling almost anything that can be imagined for dogs and much more.

The Rotary Club hit on the idea of the ‘dog day’ when it was looking for something with mass appeal that would give people in the area the chance to have a day out in the company of their best friends.

There were two guests from the world of television at the event.

Jules Hudson who has appeared in Escape to the Country, Countryfile and Britain’s Heritage Heroes and is a regular contributor to Radio 4’s ‘Open Country.’

Also present was Kate Bliss a presenter and antiques expert on a number of antiques programmes such as Bargain Hunt and Flog It!, Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is and The Antiques Road Trip.

But the real stars were the dogs that came in all shapes and sizes including a 14-year-old lurcher that defied the years to have a go at some agility training.
