A SEA of sunflowers at a Cotheridge garden centre are being sold off to raise money for charity.

Three acres of stunning bright yellow sunflowers, which have been grown at Laylocks Garden Centre, in Bromyard Road, have now gone on sale to the public.

All the money raised is going to the Midlands Air Ambulance, the charity which has responded to more than 40,000 missions across the Midlands, airlifting patients to hospital.

The stems are being sold for £1 a sunflower, with seeds being sold as bird feed to raise further funds.

More than 150 have already been sold in the first week of going on sale, and Andrew Sinclair, the garden centre manager, hopes more will be sold now they are publicising the sale.

"We have three acres, and thought this would be a good way to raise money for a good cause, which always needs support," Mr Sinclair said.

"Midlands Air Ambulance are Laylocks' nominated charity and we regularly support them.

"People are welcome to pop along to the centre and buy as many as they want - we want to raise as much money as possible."
