FOOD was shared and fund was had as people got together to enjoy a community picnic at The Commandery's gardens.

Plates were piled high at the All Around the World community picnic on Tuesday organised by Samm Hale, of Worcester Refugee Relief Network.

Miss Hale, from The Arboretum, said she got the idea to hold a picnic to bring different cultures together after reading about a number of hate crime incidents in Worcester.

About 60 people rolled out blankets, enjoyed garden games and good food at the picnic.

"It was a lovely day, really nice.

"We had people of all different ages and different backgrounds come together.

"We had pakoras, cakes, and cupcakes which had a picture of children holding hands all around the world.

"Everyone brought something.

"All the children played so nicely in the enclosed gardens even though some had never met before.

"They were all running around and playing together.

"The Commandery staff were great and let us stay longer - lots of people didn't realise they would be given a card after showing the Worcester Council Tax bill which meant they can continue to return for free.
