AN IRATE carpet fitter from Rowley Regis who was armed with a 12 inch kitchen knife when complained to his neighbours about the noise they were making has been locked up for eight months.

Paul Turner snapped due to the noise his neighbours were making as they drank with friends at their back garden bar.

Judge Nicholas Cartwright told 54-year-old Turner he had to have regard to the harm that could have been caused by the production of the knife as he stressed there was always danger when "someone who was in drink confronted others."

David Swinnerton prosecuting said Turner had first argued with his wife before going next door where he told a man "I will have you. I will kill you."

Turner then held the knife above his head as he added, "I am fed up with the noise. I have had enough. I will do you all."

He was then tackled to the ground and disarmed and the police were alerted, Mr Swinnerton told Wolverhampton Crown Court.

After his arrest Turner told officers he had downed seven or eight pints and he "lost it."

He then admitted he was "gutted" by his actions.

Makhan Singh defending Turner of Greenwood Avenue said that at the time he had been going through a period of stress and it was alcohol that was behind the offence.

Mr Singh said: "He knows what he did is unacceptable, there are no excuses at all for his actions."

The court was told Turner's wife had a cleaning job in Halesowen and the fact she had to be out of the house in the early hours also contributed to the way he acted.
