THE love of reading is well and truly alive in Malvern, with more than 200 youngsters completing a summer reading challenge.
Libraries in Worcestershire challenged youngsters to read six books over the summer holidays to complete the challenge.
Amanda Duncan, team leader at Malvern Library, in Graham Road, was delighted when a grand total of 229 children completed the challenge.
She said: "We were very lucky that this year we were able to celebrate the amazing work of Roald Dahl and what would have been his 100th birthday.
"Staff and volunteers spent the summer revelling in children's retelling of the stories they had read and in some cases we were read the whole book."
Children who completed the challenge were presented with medals by Mayor of Malvern, Cllr Cynthia Palmer, during a special ceremony at the library on Saturday, October 22.
