OFFICERS in Redditch are appealing for witnesses to a suspected arson at a flat in the town over the weekend.

The suspected arson attack took place at a flat in High Trees Close at around 5.30pm on Saturday (January 14).

No-one was home or injured at the time of the blaze, which was quickly contained by firefighters - who also made the property safe.

Investigations into the fire are on-going and West Mercia Police officers are keeping an open mind as to the cause, but it is believed a person or persons have deliberately set alight the contents of a bin store, which was located next to the front door of the property.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the fire or who saw people acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident reference number 548S of January 14.

Alternatively, information can be passed on anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
