CAREFULLY does it!
This picture, taken in February 1988, shows a crane lowering the spire-like roof onto a new pub at the corner of Hylton Road and Tybridge Street in Worcester.
The pub and diner, Sawyers, cost more than £1 million to build, but was turned into the city’s third McDonald’s restaurant a decade later.
Our archive picture brought back memories for David Thurlby.
He said: "I was a student at Hereford College of Art 1988 to 1990, and was asked if I could photograph the interior for an architectural project."
The photos he took are in our gallery above.
Katie Parsons recalled: "It was American-themed with a big bar in the middle, a seated restaurant area and dance floor.
"It seemed so sophisticated!
"I'm sure it wasn't at all, but in comparison to other venues in Worcester and to a teenager it seemed like THE place to be!"
Whitefoot Photo posted: "Marvellous when it was Sawyers.
"I recall a rowing boat suspended from the ceiling.
"The rooms were full of bric a brac from Worcester."
Tony Teebee Symonds said: "I proposed to my future wife there. The waitress arranged for the ring to be in the bottom of a champagne glass."
Dave Dunbar said: "I remember organising a birthday meal in 1994 for 50 people on a Monday night when Sawyers had their 2-for-1 deal!"
Andrew Digger said: "I worked in the kitchens in 1990. Loved every minute! Also had our Christmas meal there when I worked for Kays some years later. Brilliant place."
Victoria Caroline Yarnold said: "Sawyers on a Sunday night was really good."
