STAFF at a Redditch charity are celebrating a quarter-of-a million windfall from the lottery to help enhance the lives of vulnerable people with disabilities.

The donation will help fund the Millsborough House Hub, which provides training courses supporting literacy and numeracy, healthy eating, life skills, as well as health and wellbeing.

The Hub is the latest development by local charity Where Next Association, and has been running as a pilot for three years.

The group has received £280,133 from the Big Lottery Fund for community projects, which provides financial support to organisations which help residents to improve skills, meet new people and strengthen their communities.

The Hub also offers craft activities along with social outings which will increase participation, identify needs and reduce isolation.

More than 100 people with a variety of disabilities attend the Hub each month.

The centre is the only community venue in town with a fully accessible personal care suite which enables people with complex needs to participate in the activities alongside their friends.

A Where Next Association spokesman said: "The Hub has been a great success and is a valued service for the people who attend.

"We are pleased that funding from The Big Lottery will enable us to continue to offer subsidised activities to the people of Redditch for the next five years."

Where Next Association was established more than 30 years ago, and is a local charity offering quality day services for people with special needs.
