The RSPCA is appealing for information after a puppy was abandoned inside a phone box in Quinton.

The one-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier was found chained up inside the phone box in Quinton Road West, in Quinton, Birmingham, last Tuesday.

The puppy has since been named Clark, after Superman alias Clark Kent, who famously emerged from phone boxes as the legendary superhero.

Clark has even been given a new superhero outfit of his own, thanks to a new Superman collar.

A shocked member of the public was alerted to Clark’s plight after hearing whimpering from inside the phone box.

They took the pup back home, and called the RSPCA.

RSPCA inspector Jonathan Ratcliffe said: “Physically the dog is OK, however he was understandably stressed out from being abandoned.

"We have no idea where he came from as he was not microchipped, and we don’t know how long he was there for - but he is lucky as it is cold and he did not have any food or water."

He added: “Because he was found in a phone box, we have decided to call him Clark, after Clark Kent. He looks the part too, as we have found a Superman collar for him.

" He is definitely our brave Superdog."

He added: “Clark is now in the RSPCA’s care and if no owner comes forward then we will hopefully be able to find him a loving new home.”

Anyone who has any information about how Clark came to be abandoned should contact the RSPCA in complete confidence on 0300 123 8018.
