THESE are some of the adorable cats looking for their forever home after coming through some tough times.

The cats are all waiting for their purrfect home at the The Holdings at Broomhall, near Kempsey, the new rescue and rehoming centre.

Geraldine Haynes, a trustee of the RSPCA Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire branch, said: "Stardust and Poppy are both elderly cats, with Stardust in her late teens, who many people do not even think to adopt.

"Through having a cattery we are able to show people their true, sweet natures when they come to visit. Sometimes just having the ability to get to know these cats better and provide them with good food, warmth and comfort allows us to rehome them a lot quicker than would otherwise happen.

"It also means that we can assist more cats in their situation, those cats that find themselves in dire straits when in the last few years of their lives."

Buster is a welfare case who was taken from a terrible situation which has left him emotionally scarred.

Mrs Haynes said: "Buster is very scared and will react with aggression, if pushed too far.

"The beauty of our cattery however is that Buster has been provided with a quiet, calm and stable environment where he has been allowed to settle and develop into a gentle and sweet boy.

"Although we are yet to touch Buster and show him how much he could enjoy human physical contact, we have taught him that human presence is a good thing.

"He will now come out when called and even spends time outside of his inner sanctuary, waiting for people to come along to say hello.

"At one point he was purely focussed on treats, however we have now got him to the point where he loves to play - although still tentatively, as you can see in our video.

"Buster has to be the cat who has so far gained the most from our cattery and we hope to continue providing this opportunity to those cats who are as needy as he was."

Astra was the first cat admitted into the new cattery last October.

She had been involved in a road traffic accident and was suffering from a broken pelvis when she was admitted.

Mrs Haynes said: "A young friendly cat, but, as with many cats coming into our care, no-one came forward to claim her.

"After weeks of TLC she became a firm favourite of the team with her wonderful personality and kind nature.

"She was having to reside within a crate whilst she recovered, however she tolerated her confinement very well.

"Unfortunately her pelvis was too badly damaged and the vet decided that her left back leg would need to be amputated.

"Again Astra found herself needing lots of care and time from our team and thankfully she has recovered very well."

Since the rescue and rehoming centre opened on October 18, 74 cats have been rehomed from the new cattery.

Many of the cats seeking adoption can be seen on the branch website: rspcaworcester.org.uk or you can meet them at the centre, which is open daily (except Wednesdays) from 11am to 4pm.
