THE daughter of an elderly Finstall couple is appealing for witnesses, after a burglar stole £12,000 from her parent's home while they were inside.
The cash was taken from inside a cash box, a silver container and a briefcase kept inside the property, all of which were found dumped nearby on Sunday morning.
Bromsgrove South and Rural Safer Neighbourhood Team has confirmed a large amount of cash was stolen from a house on Finstall Road around 8.30am on March 19.
Officers say the burglar, or burglars, may have entered the property through an insecure door.
But the homeowners' daughter, who wishes to remain anonymous, is concerned someone may be purposefully targeting vulnerable people in the area, as there was no evidence of a search inside her parent's home.
Her 83-year-old mother, who suffers from dementia, and her father, who is aged 85 and physically disabled, both receive regular support from visiting homecare nurses.
She claims this is the second time her parents have been burgled in four months.
"It infuriates me that this has happened to my parents," she said. "My mom has dementia and my dad can't walk and I feel it's wrong that these people will get away with it. If we let it go, then it could happen to other vulnerable people. It seems like these people knew what they were going for when they got in. I just want people to be made aware that this is happened so they can take precautions."
Anyone with information on the burglary is urged to contact West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 0182s of March 19.
