RESIDENTS of a Hereford street earmarked for demolition got the chance to ask further questions about the proposals last week.

Herefordshire Housing held a consultation at the Three Counties Hotel for those living in Beattie Avenue.

The not-for-profit housing association wants to knock down 41 prefabricated homes in Hunderton, as they say they were only built to last 30 years 60 years ago.

There was a drawing of how the site could look with 87 potential homes and a new cul-de-sac running to the side of the main street.

Natalie Thelwell, from Herefordshire Housing, said in four to six weeks time there will be a more exact plan of what is going on the site.

Joanne Adcocks was one of those to attend the consultation.

She was concerned about her 71-year-old dad, Colin Bishop, who lives in Beattie Avenue and who is paraplegic, saying his home has been specially adapted for him.

She said: “His home is perfect now for what he needs. It really suits him

“He can’t do anything for himself but he loves his garden. He has a big fish pond with 150 fish in. He is very happy there.”

Ms Adcocks said she is concerned whether Herefordshire Housing will be able to find accommodation suitable for him.

At the consultation there was also a map showing where other Herefordshire Housing bungalows are situated in the county.

Ms Thelwell said: “Some people see it as an opportunity to move somewhere else.”

Herefordshire Housing said out of 880 bungalows in stock across Herefordshire, 44.9 percent are in Hereford, which means relocating to a bungalow will not be an issue.
