PLANS for a new Aldi store will be shown off to the public at an exhibition.

The supermarket giant has unveiled plans for a new multi-million pound shop off Abbey View Road in Pinvin, to add to its two new stores in Worcester in the last year.

The discount food retailer has claimed that the new supermarket would create around 40 jobs.

A spokesman for Aldi said: “We are delighted to announce our proposals to develop a new Aldi food store at the Abbey View Road site, which will provide local residents with access to high-quality produce at discounted prices.

“The proposed store in a perfect location for residents of Pinvin, Pershore, and Wyre Piddle, and will save shoppers money, helping to reduce travel times for those who currently travel out of the area to complete their weekly food shop.

“We now look forward to meeting residents, and hearing their views on our proposals.”

So far, a planning proposal has not been submitted, with consultation with the community prioritised before a planning application, which is likely to be submitted in the next few months to Wychavon District Council.

An Aldi spokesman also claimed that the store has been designed to ensure it sits comfortably within the site and contributes positively to the appearance of the surrounding area, by using high-quality landscaping.

The exhibition will take place at Pershore Library on Church Street, between 3pm and 7pm on Thursday May 4.

At present, the closest stores to Pershore residents are in Worcester and Evesham.
