ARTS Alive, that brings theatre, dance, music, comedy and spoken word – plus Flicks in the Sticks - to community venues all over south Shropshire is offering people another chance to get on their bikes for a ride through beautiful hills.

All money raised helps to keep great shows and big screen films available at local community venues.

On Sunday, June 25, the third annual Tour d’Arts Alive Cycling Sportive will set off from Clun Memorial Hall.

There are three routes: short, in-between and long, with length and climbs to suit all abilities.

The serious rider will be usefully challenged, while the Sunday cyclist can enjoy quiet lanes through beautiful surroundings, in the company of like-minded and supportive companions.

There are small team prizes for any named group of five or more riders who start and finish together, plus the coveted team prize – a ceramic plate from top local craftsman, Owen Thorpe - for the biggest team to finish together.

The rides are all professionally organised and managed by RideVentures under British Cycling guidelines, with good signage and vehicle support.

There are volunteer-run food stops along the way – great cakes and hot food and drinks on sale at Clun.

In a new development, the event has been endorsed by Breeze, the British Cycling initiative to encourage more women to enjoy cycling alongside the blokes!

The Tour d’Arts Alive has grown over the last two years into a popular and distinctive cycling event.

There is live music at the finish with an arch made of recycled bikes and surprise ‘happenings’ at the Bucknell feed stop!

Entry to all routes is £20 (£21 online) and all profits go to support Arts Alive’s programme of top professional performances in local community venues.
